Hey pop-punk nerds, this band On My Honor is playing at the Local this Saturday night (February 9th) with Nick and Jonathan from the Swellers’ 90s cover band called “Salute Your Shorts” it’s going to be a really good time. If you like bands like The Wonder Years, Pentimento, Saves the Day, etc. you’ll really like these guys. They’re here all the way from Knoxville, TN so let’s show them a warm Flint, Michigan welcome!
In case you missed it earlier this week, we posted a video that was produced by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation about the Local. It’s a short promo video that features the Swellers, and various interviews with people of interest from the Flint music scene.
This is what all-ages music is all about. We hope you enjoy it!
Jonathan Diener of the Swellers was a runner-up nominee for Punk Drummer of the Year from Drum Magazine, he’s right up there with Tre Cool (the actual winner of the award, but come on is Green Day really a punk band still?) and Pat Thetic of Anti-Flag!
Congratulations on the nomination, Jonathan! Now he’s a really old picture of you and your brother holding giant lighters in the form of matches (note: our friend Zac is really perplexed by fire)
