In case you missed it earlier this week, we posted a video that was produced by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation about the Local. It’s a short promo video that features the Swellers, and various interviews with people of interest from the Flint music scene.

This is what all-ages music is all about. We hope you enjoy it!

So we’re super excited about this show! The Most Dangerous Animal is a ridiculously good hardcore band along the lines of Refused, they totally rip. For those who were fortunate enough to see them open for Chiodos, they’re definitely one of the best new bands in the area. Go check out their new video for “Warm Sunny Days” which was filmed by Andrew Juhl at the Flint Local 432!Luther is on tour from Philly and has played with bands like the Bouncing Souls, the Menzingers, etc. They’re super good dudes and their band is fantastic. Timeshares is another up and coming punk rock national band from New York, you can download their entire LP “Bearable” here. I first heard this band when I was given one of their demos at a show some years back, I rarely listen to that stuff but I happened to listen to this one and was blown away. You cannot miss these guys!
We’ll also be welcoming back Garrett Burgett to our stage, he’s always a lot of fun to watch and sing along to.
Then we have the wonderful Vagabond, off their recent stint of winning the “Clio Amphitheater Battle of the Bands” they’ll be getting things going right.
Go RSVP here.

Man, last night was great. Thanks so much to everyone who paid to get in at the door, The Swellers, Making Friends, Pentimento, Midwest, Vagabond, everyone who helped keep an eye on things, volunteered to help the show run smoothly, and any
one who helped us get the word out about the show. Everyone stepped up to the plate on this one and we knocked it out of the park. We passed out over 1,000 paper flyers, we drummed the message into everyone via social media, we were mentioned on AltPress.com, we had a feature on PropertyofZack.com, we had local TV coverage, we had an MLive.com article, we also had an article in the Flint Journal, and we continued to work hard to promote it in any way possible. We brought our A-game for last night and it paid off. We sold the show out within 30 minutes of the door being open. We’re super sorry to those we had to turn away. If we don’t adhere to our capacity it means we can’t do what we do. In the future, whenever we post online, pre-sale tickets, MAKE SURE to buy them because if we are going through the trouble of doing so, we’re expecting the show to sellout. So always plan accordingly. Also, in the future, like we did last night, we’ll start a list of people who were turned down and if people leave, we’ll get you inside.Seeing everyone come out, old faces and new faces, having so much fun, watching and supporting bands they haven’t seen before, being a part of this COMMUNITY, is the reason why we do what we do. In fall of 2009, I moved away to Austin, TX, thinking I would never live in Michigan again. I returned in August of 2011 to take care of my sick mother who had a bone marrow transplant, upon being approached to take up the role as club manager of the Flint Local 432, I flew down to Texas a few weeks later, packed up all my things, and drove a very uncomfortable moving truck nearly 2,000 miles. I had no paying job lined-up, no real plan other than that I knew I would be at the Local again as it re-opened. Nights like last night are the reason I moved back to Michigan without any hesitation. I’m a lucky man to be a part of something so great. Nights like last night are the reason people cared and continue to care about the Local.Thank you everyone for being a part of this music scene and making it one of the most unique and positive communities I’ve ever experienced. It’s truly a privilege to do what I do.Let’s keep this ball rolling, come out again tonight if you don’t have plans, Empty Orchestra is back from tour, let’s give them a warm welcome home. Thanks again, without any of you this wouldn’t be possible. As members of this community, you are what makes the Local special. Together we can build something positive for this struggling city, by no means are we slowing down.See you tonight.Danny MoilanenFlint Local 432Club Manager

If you haven’t heard already, The Swellers have been a band for 10 years this summer. It feels like just yesterday we played our first ever show, consisting of Misfits, Ramones, and Weezer covers and three original songs. We were 14 and 15 years old.To commemorate beginning our second decade as a band, we have put together a show at the Flint Local 432 in our hometown of Flint, MI on Friday, August 3rd. Just like the shows back then, this one will be cheap ($7) so we’re calling on all of our friends and fans, old and new, to come out and support not just us and the bands playing, but the Flint music scene. It used to be something tremendous and changed who we were forever. Running the risk of sounding super old.. we want the next generation of show-goers to have what we had. We’ll be playing songs from every release, and even inviting some ex-band members onstage to help us remember how to play the REALLY old stuff. Probably something you’ve never seen, and will never see again (out of towners, you might want to consider making a road trip!). It’ll be embarrassing and fun as you watch us re-live our growing pains, but a show we’ll never forget as we celebrate how far we’ve all come. Joining us will be Vagabond (young local blood), Midwest (our best pals from home), Pentimento (a great band from Buffalo, NY), and Making Friends, who are sadly calling this show their final show. We’ll see you in Flint on August 3rd!-Nick and The Swellers
